Mint alternative

Looking for a Mint alternative?

2026-06-05

You probably had a money setup that worked. Then Mint took it away.

What happened to Mint?

Intuit shut Mint down in early 2024 and pushed everyone toward Credit Karma, which doesn't really do budgeting. People lost their budgets, their categorized history, and the one screen that told them where they stood. Since then it's been a scramble to find something that works as well as Mint did, minus the ads.

What to look for in a replacement

Plenty of apps call themselves budgeting apps. Fewer actually replace what Mint did. Look for:

  • All your accounts in one place: chequing, savings, cards, loans, investments.
  • Real budgets and spending insight, so you see more than a list of transactions.
  • Cashflow: money in vs money out over time.
  • Automation: rules that categorize and tag transactions so you don't have to.
  • Control of your data: export to CSV anytime, and nobody selling it.
  • A free tier that's actually usable, so you can try it with your real accounts.

Why people move to OnTheBuck

OnTheBuck puts your whole money picture on one screen. Connect your accounts (read-only, so we never see your banking password) or add them by hand if you'd rather stay offline. You get net worth, budgets, spending breakdowns, a cashflow view, and rules that keep transactions tidy on their own. No ads, no clutter.

The Free plan isn't a trial in disguise. It's genuinely useful on its own. Pro adds rules, full history, and the cashflow view when you want more.

Moving over is quick

  1. Export whatever history you can from your bank or Credit Karma.
  2. Connect your accounts in OnTheBuck (read-only) or add them manually.
  3. Let the rules categorize everything once, and it stays fixed.

You'll see your whole financial picture in about five minutes.
